Based on 164 vendors listed in The Blu List Cape Cod directory and published venue pricing. Last updated June 2026.

Cape Cod weddings run $25,000–$75,000 for most couples, with the median landing closer to $40,000–$50,000 once you factor in venue, catering, photography, florals, and the usual supporting cast. That range is wide because the Cape is wide — a town hall ceremony in Bourne and a waterfront tent wedding in Chatham are not the same planet.

The numbers below are built from 96 venues and 40 photographers in our database, plus regional catering benchmarks. Where we have published prices, we use them. Where we don't, we say so.

The Short Answer

A Cape Cod wedding with 100 guests will cost most couples $38,000–$58,000 all-in. Budget-conscious couples who book an off-season date, use a town-owned venue, and limit florals can land closer to $22,000–$28,000. Couples going full waterfront-tent with a luxury caterer and editorial photographer can easily clear $90,000–$120,000.

The single biggest variable is the venue. Our database shows a price range of $130–$34,069 for Cape Cod venues, with a median of $7,930. Everything else scales around that anchor.

How Venues Price Themselves

Of the 96 venues in our Cape Cod database, 84 don't publish pricing — they require an inquiry. The 12 that do publish give us a real floor and ceiling.

Tier Count in DB % of DB Published Range What It Means
$ Budget 2 2% $130–$800 Town facilities, public parks, self-catering required
$$ Affordable 5 5% $2,568–$5,519 Smaller inns, non-waterfront event spaces
$$$ Moderate 2 2% $6,546–$10,341 Mid-scale estates, farm venues, inn buyouts
$$$$ Luxury 3 3% $11,890–$34,069 Waterfront estates, resort properties, exclusive-use venues
Unlisted 84 88% Price on request

The 88% unlisted rate tells you something: most Cape venues want to qualify you before they quote you. Budget accordingly for discovery time, and use our Cape Cod wedding venue directory to filter by what's publicly listed first.

What You Get at Each Price Point

$ Budget: $130–$800

Two venues in our database sit here. These are typically town-owned facilities — a grange hall, a conservation land permit, a municipal park with a pavilion. You get the space and not much else. No in-house catering, no coordinator, sometimes no climate control. Ideal for micro-weddings under 40 guests where you're self-catering or using food trucks. The hidden cost is rentals: tables, chairs, linens, and a tent can add $3,000–$8,000 on top of a $200 permit fee.

$$ Affordable: $2,568–$5,519

Five venues publish in this range. You're looking at smaller inn settings, non-waterfront event barns, and historic properties that haven't yet gone luxury. Many are BYOC (bring your own caterer), which saves money but adds coordination work. Guest counts typically cap at 80–120. This tier is where couples who care more about the Cape aesthetic than the water view find real value.

$$$ Moderate: $6,546–$10,341

The sweet spot for mid-range Cape Cod weddings. Farm venues, vineyard-adjacent properties, mid-size resort spaces, and restored estate outbuildings live here. Most include tables, chairs, and a day-of contact. Some bundle in a ceremony site. Catering is usually preferred-vendor lists, not in-house. For 100–150 guests, this venue fee plus catering ($12,000–$18,000) plus photography ($3,000–$5,000) builds to a $35,000–$50,000 wedding without much creative math.

$$$$ Luxury: $11,890–$34,069

Three venues in our database publish here — and the top end, $34,069, is a real number from a real listing. Waterfront estates, resort buyouts, and exclusive Cape properties make up this tier. At this price, the venue often includes more: dedicated coordinators, preferred vendor relationships, ceremony overlooks, bridal suites. But catering minimums at these properties run $15,000–$30,000+ on top of the venue fee. A $34,000 venue with a $25,000 catering minimum and a $9,000 photographer is a $68,000 baseline before florals, music, or attire.

What Drives the Price Up

Cape Cod has specific cost pressures that don't apply everywhere:

  • Waterfront premium. Any venue with an ocean, bay, or pond view charges more — expect 30–50% above comparable inland properties. The difference between a Harwich barn and a Dennis waterfront estate can be $10,000+ in venue fee alone.
  • Tent and rental costs. Many Cape venues are open-air or tent-optional. A 40x80 tent runs $3,500–$7,000 installed. Add flooring, lighting, sidewalls, and climate control in shoulder season and you're at $8,000–$14,000 for the tent package alone.
  • Seasonal pricing. Peak is mid-June through Labor Day. Off-peak (October–May) typically runs 15–30% lower on venues, and some photographers offer reduced rates outside summer. An October Cape Cod wedding can save $5,000–$12,000 on venue and catering minimums alone.
  • Guest travel and accommodation. Many guests will need to book rooms. The Cape has limited hotel inventory in summer; blocks disappear fast. This doesn't hit your wedding budget directly, but it affects your guest count decisions — couples often trim lists to spare guests a difficult booking situation.
  • Caterer scarcity. Only one caterer in our database has a Cape Cod listing, and they haven't published pricing. The Cape's catering market is dominated by a small number of established providers who know they're in demand. Per-head costs of $120–$250 are standard; premium operators with waterfront minimums push higher.
  • Photography. Our database shows a range of $600–$10,000 with a median of $3,008. The $600 end is an outlier — likely an emerging photographer or a partial-day package. A full-day Cape Cod wedding photographer with published rates typically starts at $2,995–$3,500 and runs to $6,500+ for senior editorial talent.
  • Florals. 27 florists in our database. None publish prices — all 27 tiers are listed by affordability bracket only (8 affordable, 8 moderate, 2 luxury, 9 unlisted). Cape floral costs typically run $2,500–$8,000 for a full wedding package at the moderate tier; luxury designers with large installations push $15,000–$25,000.

Three Realistic Scenarios

The Shoulder-Season Intimate Wedding — ~$26,000

100 guests, October date, inland venue in the affordable tier ($4,500 venue fee). Self-assembled vendor team with a mid-tier photographer ($3,000), an affordable florist ($2,800 in flowers), a food truck or casual caterer ($8,500 all-in), a DJ ($1,800), and a rented tent ($4,200 for a smaller footprint). Hair/makeup, officiant, invitations, and wedding party costs add another $3,000. Total sits around $27,800 — doable with discipline, zero upgrades, and a guest list that doesn't expect a seated dinner.

The Classic Cape Cod Wedding — ~$52,000

125 guests, July date, moderate-tier venue ($9,000). Full-service caterer at $145/head ($18,125). A photographer at the database median ($3,008) plus a second shooter ($900). Moderate florist ($5,500). DJ with lighting ($2,800). Tent and rentals ($7,500 for full coverage). Officiant, hair/makeup, cake, invitations, and day-of coordination add $6,500. Total: approximately $53,333. This is the real middle of the Cape Cod market — not budget, not extravagant, recognizable.

The Waterfront Estate Wedding — ~$95,000

150 guests, peak summer Saturday, luxury waterfront venue ($22,000). Catering at $200/head plus service charge and tax ($36,000+). Senior photographer ($6,500) plus videographer ($4,500). Luxury florist with full ceremony and reception florals ($14,000). Live band ($8,500). Hair and makeup team for five people ($2,800). Coordination, cake, transportation, welcome bags, and rehearsal dinner logistics add $12,000. Total lands around $104,300 — and that's without significant guest travel subsidies, custom signage, or a second-day brunch.

How to Find the Right Vendor

  1. Start with venues — they set the budget ceiling. Browse our Cape Cod wedding venues directory and filter by published price first. The 12 venues with public pricing give you an anchor before you invest time in inquiry forms.
  2. Check photographer availability early. Peak summer Saturdays on the Cape book 12–18 months out. With 40 photographers in our database and a median price of $3,008, there's range — but not unlimited choice. Browse Cape Cod wedding photographers sorted by published starting price.
  3. Budget catering as a percentage, not a line item. Catering typically represents 35–45% of a full wedding budget on the Cape. If your total budget is $50,000, that's $17,500–$22,500 for food and beverage. Work backward from that number when you contact caterers.
  4. Use our Wedding Budget Calculator to model scenarios by guest count before you start vendor conversations. It's harder to negotiate down than to stay disciplined from the start.
  5. Get florals quoted after venue. Floral scope depends heavily on venue size, existing architecture, and ceremony setup. Contact our Cape Cod florists after you've confirmed your venue — quotes will be more accurate and less speculative.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the average cost of a wedding on Cape Cod?

Based on our vendor database and regional pricing, most Cape Cod weddings with 100–150 guests cost between $38,000 and $58,000 all-in. The median venue price in our database is $7,930. Add catering ($14,000–$22,000), photography ($3,000–$6,500), florals ($3,000–$8,000), music ($2,000–$4,000), and supporting costs, and the realistic all-in sits around $45,000–$55,000 for a conventional summer wedding.

Is Cape Cod more expensive than other Massachusetts wedding destinations?

Generally yes, for peak summer dates. Waterfront venue premiums, limited catering competition, tent and rental requirements, and a compressed peak season (June–September) all push costs higher than inland Massachusetts markets. Boston-area weddings can match or exceed Cape pricing at the luxury end, but the Cape's mid-market is pricier than, say, Pioneer Valley or Metro West options.

What's the cheapest time of year to get married on Cape Cod?

October through April. October is increasingly popular — good light, fewer crowds, foliage backdrop — and venues typically discount 15–25% off peak rates. November through April offers the steepest discounts (sometimes 30–40%) but limits outdoor options and may reduce your guest list due to travel difficulty.

Do Cape Cod wedding venues include catering?

Rarely in the mid-range. Most venues in our database operate as dry-hire or preferred-vendor-list venues, meaning you source catering separately. A handful of resort and inn properties offer in-house catering, but even those often have minimums that match or exceed outside caterer pricing. Always clarify catering terms before signing a venue contract.

How far in advance should we book a Cape Cod wedding venue?

For a peak summer Saturday (June–August), 14–18 months is standard at moderate-to-luxury venues. Popular venues in Chatham, Wellfleet, and Falmouth are known to book 18–24 months out. Off-season and mid-week dates have more flexibility — 9–12 months is usually sufficient. Start venue conversations before any other vendor; everything else schedules around that date.
